Start with the task

A factory is a collection of linked operations. Before comparing individual machines, describe what needs to move, where it needs to go and what must happen along the way. Include normal operation, changeovers and the moments when the process stops. That description is a more useful starting point than a list of product specifications.

Make the interfaces visible

Mechanical fit, electrical supply and control signals belong in the same discussion. A capable component still needs to work with the equipment around it. Ask how the machine exchanges information, how an operator identifies a fault and how a maintenance team accesses the parts that need attention. The photograph illustrates a bakery palletizing installation; it is a reference scene, not a SeaB2B project.

Compare complete solutions

Electric and pneumatic motion each have useful applications. Positioning, force, speed, installation and the available utilities all influence the choice. Write down the application requirements before choosing a technology. The linked Festo comparison is a starting point for those questions, rather than a specification for a particular production line.
